Supporting Gospel work beyond Brentwood

God's plan is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, as God's Spirit grows a global church, as the gospel of salvation is proclaimed to the nations. We are called to a Gospel partnership which is active, relational, committed, prayerful and financial. It's our privilege to support three main mission partners who share the same desire to build healthy, Reformed local churches through the faithful proclamation of the Bible.

Our Mission Partners

Becontree Church, Dagenham
Becontree Church is "a church for those who don’t go to church." It has been serving the Becontree Estate since 2014. As well as meeting together every Sunday, it's their pattern to visit one street every week in order to get to know their community. Mike Reith, who is married to Debbie, is pastor of the church. He's assisted by Rob and Hannah Newham, and Faramarz, from London City Mission.

Nick and Dorothy Jones, County Cavan, Ireland
Nick is the minister of 5 congregations in rural County Cavan, about an hour-and-a-half's drive from Dublin. Nick is English by birth. He's married to Dorothy, a native of Ireland. They have two young children. With patience and prayer Nick is seeking to bring Bible ministry to the rural communities that he's called to serve.

Steve and Deb Coney, Orebic, Croatia
The Coneys - who have three children - have served in Croatia for many years. Previously based in Zapresic, they have recently moved to Orebic, about 2 hours from Dubrovnik. Steve is an Old Testament lecturer involved in training Croatian pastors. Deb is involved in various forms of women's ministry and counselling. Currently they are seeking to connect and encourage the handful of believers they have identified in their new location.

New churches in our region

It's been our privilege recently to offer prayer and financial support for two new churches in our region:

Christ Church Romford
CCR has been at work since Spring 2018. It meets in central Romford on Mawney Road. The church is led by David Thomas, who is a teaching elder in the International Presbyterian Church. David is married to Jenny; they have three young children.

Cornerstone Church Grays
Lord-willing, Cornerstone will begin its work in January 2020, with a small core team led by Mike Walton. A Yorkshireman by birth, Mike is an ordained Anglican minister. It's intended that CCG will be a congregation of the Anglican Mission in England. Mike is married to Amanda; they have three young children.

The individual missions of Immanuel's church members

God’s plan is both to gather and to scatter Christian people. He gathers us into local churches. What is it that the gathered people of God are to do? Not a million-and-one different things and activities. But the simple-and-deep work of making disciples, and partnering closely with a few others similarly committed.

But the Lord also scatters Christian people throughout the world. And he gives to each of us opportunities, desires, and abilities to serve Jesus in an almost infinite number of ways and settings. These aren’t formal ministries of the church. But it’s really encouraging to know what different ones of us do in Christ’s name elsewhere.  Here is a very incomplete list - let us know what’s missing! You could think of this list as the completion of this sentence: “Because I’m a Christian I…”
